As Havers, Sharon Smallis the chippy chalk to the oh-so-refined cheese of Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley (Nathaniel Parker) in the Inspector Lynley Mysteries. "Our characters were put together by the writers because they thought we could clash,"says Small. "But that's also what makes them interesting: the fact that you have two completely different viewpoints."
Small says the roles mirror her and Parker's relationship to a degree: "Nat and I do come from different bsckgrounds. But acting is a very level playing field for that. Recently I was on a new show (Mistresses) and his first text to me was 'Remind me, where do I come in?' which was just fantastic, almost like, 'I don't like you being on the screen without me.' It's like a marriage without all the good bits."
As for sidekicks techniques: "You have to become a master at reactive acting because you are not allowed to show that much emotion whenyou're given information. For a couple of series (Lynley) I did get frustrated because I felt I was doing an awful lot of listening. Havers developed, but not hugely. She wasn't allowed a relationship or a lot of other things that you think 'Oh, come on! Let me do that, let me do a tap dance!' But that wasn't allowed."

My opinion.
My opinion of this list is that first of all George Toolan should be higher on the list as he is one of my favorite sidekicks and ofcourse Havers should have been in this list.
